Position: Prototyping Lab Technician

Duration: 12-month Contract

Payrate: $22–$25/hr

Location: Milford, CT (On-site)

Schedule: Standard work week - 5 days/week on site

Must-Haves:

  • 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing assembly, lab work, or R&D within consumer-packaged goods
  • 5+ years’ experience with mold/fixture maintenance, mechanical assembly, or equipment repair
  • Hands-on experience and operational understanding of 3D printers (specifically SLA or FDM)
  • Comfortable using computers to operate 3D printers
  • Experience with injection molding
  • Basic understanding of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to build prototypes, run trials, and contribute ideas (not just follow instructions)
  • Strong communication and professionalism

Plusses:

  • Experience supporting CAD design tasks (SolidWorks preferred)
  • CAD design experience, SolidWorks or similar.
  • Basic understanding of electro-mechanical systems.
  • 3D steel or plastic printing experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.

Day-to-Day:

  • Build and assemble small prototypes using hand tools, lab equipment, and basic machining techniques
  • Clean and finish 3D printed parts (SLA and FDM)
  • Machine small metal components for lab fixtures and test setups
  • Operate, maintain, and optimize SLA and FDM 3D printers
  • Assist in lab-scale processing of soap-based personal care products
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
  • Document procedures, maintenance logs, and prototype iterations
  • Communicate findings and progress to team members

Job Description:

The Prototyping Lab Technician will support the creation of small-scale prototypes, lab fixtures, and pilot samples of soap-based personal care products. This role involves hands-on mechanical prototyping, 3D printing, and assisting in lab-scale processing under the guidance of a senior specialist. Responsibilities include prototype fabrication, 3D printing operations, machining small components, and maintaining lab standards. The technician will also support CAD design tasks and documentation while gaining exposure to formulation processes.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
