Compensation Range: 68K to 85K
Primary Purpose:
This position is responsible for supporting campuses with Emergent Bilingual state and federal compliance mandates and guidelines and with the implementation of the DLI/ESL instructional programs (PK-12).
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree from accredited university with a major in assigned subject.
Valid Texas teaching certificate with Bilingual or ESL endorsement.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
Knowledge and experience with LPAC processes.
Ability to interpret data.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Must possess demonstrated evidence of leadership responsibilities and an in-depth knowledge of second language acquisition, content-based language instruction, curriculum, instructional best practices, and adult learning theories.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, community members, students and community organizations.
Experience:
5 years of teaching experience
LPAC leadership experience preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
1. Builds campus-level capacity to ensure that each campus effectively meets the needs of all Emergent Bilingual (EB) students and makes equitable, data-informed programmatic decisions.
2. Ensures campus compliance with state and federal mandates related to EB students in order to maximize Bilingual/ESL program effectiveness, including identification, placement, classroom accommodations based on English proficiency, progress monitoring, and appropriate assessment selection.
3. Coordinates, performs, and monitors the timely and accurate identification and placement of EB students. Oversees educational services designed to develop English proficiency, primary language literacy, composition, and academic language across required content areas. These services include the bilingual program of instruction and targeted support to strengthen academic language proficiency in English.
4. Collaborates with campus and charter teams to analyze EB student growth and achievement data, and coordinates intervention services based on student performance data.
5. Plans, provides, and coordinates ongoing professional development to build staff capacity in serving Emergent Bilingual students, aligned with the charter’s comprehensive professional development plan. Provides training on the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and Content-Based Language Instruction (CBLI) and monitors effective classroom implementation.
6. Assists school administrators in meeting the academic and linguistic needs of Emergent Bilingual students.
7. Collaborates closely with campus LPAC Administrators to ensure compliance and to maximize Bilingual and ESL program effectiveness.
8. Participates in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to exchange information and stay informed about program requirements and best practices.
9. Organizes and oversees the implementation of the district’s Bilingual/ESL Pre-K and Kindergarten Summer School program.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
